Molecular Design of Functional Liquid Crystals: Objective is exploring the material properties with especial detail in the structure-activity relationship and the evaluation of the possible applications. In the case of the most promising results, the final goal is the design of electrooptic or optoelectronic devices based on these materials. Understanding the relationship between molecular chirality and phase chirality - the development of new materials with high phase chirality for optical components.
Dendrimeric Liquid Crystals: The overall objective of the research line is the study of liquid crystalline giant molecular systems, dendritic molecules, their building blocks, their structures and the mesoscopic and macroscopic self-assembly behaviour of these entities, that is supramolecular organizations based on liquid crystals.
